Newman-Dailey Honored as the #1 Fundraising Team for Food For Thought's Stock the Pantry
DESTIN, Fla.—Newman-Dailey is passionate about giving back to the local community. Through the passion of the team and generosity of friends, family, homeowners, guests, and clients, Newman-Dailey earned the title “Top Fundraising Team” for Food for Thought’s Stock the Pantry competition, raising $49,797 to help fight food insecurity among area students.
Food for Thought plays a critical role in fighting hunger and food insecurity among students in Walton and Okaloosa Counties. One of their leading events each year is Stock the Pantry, which was held virtually in 2020 due to the pandemic.
“When we got the news of the virtual fundraiser, vacation rentals were banned, most of the team was furloughed and there was a great deal of economic uncertainty. We didn’t think we could have a successful fundraiser this year,” said Newman-Dailey CEO Jeanne Dailey. “That’s when our team member, Lisa Morgan, suggested that if we just raise $5,000, it would help feed 1,000 students that week. So true! All we needed was a realistic goal and Team Newman-Dailey was off and running!”
Dailey continued “we’re highly competitive and we love helping people. Service is in our DNA. We started having weekly competitions among our team to see who could raise the most. Next thing you know, we’d achieved our $5,000 goal! Then we raised it to $20,000 and we achieved it! Then we raised it to $40,000 AND we reached it! Through the passion of our team and the generosity of our friends, family, owners, guests, and clients, we raised $49,797 for students and families in need! We were blown away!”
The Newman-Dailey Team was proud to maintain the top spot after earning “#1 fundraising team” in 2019 when the team gathered more than 78,399 food items in the Stock the Pantry competition.
The 2020 Food for Thought Stock the Pantry Event set a lofty goal to raise $150,000 to feed more than 3,300 students signed up for 2020-2021 school year. With the help of more than 11 fundraising teams and countless individual donations, Food for Thought exceeded their goal, and received $204,573 to fight food insecurity in our community.
Food For Thought provides backpacks filled with healthy, easy to prepare food for students who are dependent on free or reduced school meals. Their goal is to support a child’s development and educational experience by bridging the gap between school meals during weekends and holiday breaks. Food For Thought has been working to fight child hunger since 2010, and currently serves 32 schools in Walton and Okaloosa Counties, providing backpacks for 3,300 students each week.
