Dailey Serves As First Female President of the Rotary Club of Destin

Destin, Florida – Jan. 11, 2016 – Newman-Dailey Resort Properties Founder and CEO Jeanne Dailey is serving as the 2015-2016 president of the Rotary Club of Destin. A first for the Rotary Club of Destin, Dailey is serving as the first female president. Dailey joined Marcia Hull and Sam Seevers as the first women inducted into the club nearly a decade ago. Now, Dailey is leading the civic organization though a vast array of community service projects that aim to eradicate hunger in the community. 
 
“Over the past years, I've witnessed the positive impact that Rotary has had on this community and throughout the world. My goal for this year is to have afun energized club with engaged members who make an impact on the community this year and into the future,” said Dailey. “This year’s International Rotary Club theme is ‘Be a Gift to the World’ and we will weave this theme into our local efforts and throughout all our community activities.” 
 
Last year, The Rotary Club of Destin contributed $41,341 to support local charitable organizations fitting the club’s mission (Boys and Girls Club, Crop Drop, Emerald Coast Children’s Advocacy Center, Food For Thought, Harvest House and Mattie Kelly Arts Foundation’s All Kinds of Art program), Destin Rotary Scholarship Foundation and Endowed Northwest Florida State College Scholarships and international humanitarian projects (Rotary International Foundation, Rotary Polio Plus Fund and international service projects with the South Walton Rotary Club and Destin Middle School Interact Club).
 
This year, the Rotary is supporting many of the same causes and recently added an important initiative to support Food for Thought. The project involves renovating a dilapidated building on Airport Road in Destin to serve as a new food pantry for Food For Thought. Food for Thought Outreach is a local non-profit that provides backpacks filled with healthy, easy-to-prepare food for students who are dependent on free and reduced lunch. The new location, which is anticipated to generate more than 600 backpacks to serve students at schools in Okaloosa County, will complement Food For Thought’s existing warehouse and headquarters in Santa Rosa Beach
 
Dailey is joined by the 2015-2016 Board of Directors who are serving under her leadership, including  Jason Belcher, President-Elect, John Kelly, Secretary, Jason Belcher, Treasurer, Alan Jowers, Sergeant-at-Arms, Bill Lindsley, Past President, Gail Pelto, Club Service, David Kirk, Community Service, Bob Perry, Membership, Dion Moniz, International Service, Greg Kisela, Program Director, Marcia Hull, Public Relations, Todd Wilkinson, Special Appointment and Bob Hafner, Scholarship Fund.  
 
The Destin Rotary Club received its charter in 1979 and today maintains a membership of 57 active members representing a diverse group of professional men and women united worldwide to provide humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations and help build peace and goodwill in the world.  The Destin Rotary Club meets every Tuesday at 7:15 a.m. at Rutherford’s in Regatta Bay.
